UPDATE

BVA/KC ELBOW SCORING SCHEME

ROTTWEILERS

RESULTS FOR 15 years since 1998

Rottweilers:

768 scored – scored 0 – 371 (48.3%). 1 – 222 (28.9%) 2 – (156 (20.3%) 3 -19 (2.5%)

Comparisons with other breeds:

Bernese Mountain Dog:

scored 2,025 – 0 – 1,239 (61.2%) 1 – 294 (14.5%) 2 – 315 (15>6%) 3 – 177 (8.7%)

Leonberger:

scored 1,092 – 0 – 995 (91.1%) 1 – 78 (7.1%) 2 – 7 (0.6%) 3 – 12 – (1.1%)

Dogue de Bordeaux:

scored 229 – 0 145 (63.3%) 1 – 35 (1.9%) 2 – 34 (14.8%) 3 – 15 (6.6%)

Obviously with even the small number scored in some breeds it is apparent that that scores for

Rottweilers are not brilliant – It is felt that until breeders abide by the BVA recommendation of breeding only from 0 or maybe 1 scored dogs, the scores will not improve.

From the KC records since 1998 for all breeds scored, the total number scoring 0 has risen from 66.7% in 1998 to 2008 where it was 84.%, – in 2012 is was 80.7% of 3,000 dogs scored.

Also the numbers scoring 3 has gone down from 7.5% in 1998 to 2.0% of all dogs in 2012.

All these figures can be obtained from the Kennel Club.
