Tails

Tail:  The Kennel Club Breed Standard states:

Strong and not set too low.  Normally carried horizontally but slightly above horizontal when dog is alert.  May hang when dog is at rest.                                                                                                                                                                   (excerpt from Breed Standard with kind permission of the Kennel Club)  

The KC Standard does not determine thickness or length of tail, neither does the ADRK German standard.   

Tail: ADRK German Standard states :

In natural condition, level in extension of the upper line; at ease may be hanging.

The ADRK illustration does, however, specify that the tail may not curl over and lie against the dog’ s back.  [see ADRK illustration].
